Discover guide · Portfolio Mode

From raw case notes to structured reflection, one question at a time.

Portfolio Mode turns the assistant into an interactive portfolio coach. For clinical case reviews, it guides you through a structured four-phase conversation. For non-clinical entries, it coaches flexibly. A live portfolio entry takes shape as you talk.

Reflections that read well but were not really thought through do not help anyone. Portfolio Mode asks one question at a time, waits for your answer, and builds the entry from what you actually said.

Drafting Evidence
Coach You mentioned struggling to build rapport with the teenager who came in for contraception.

What specific communication strategies did you try, and why do you think they didn't work as well as you hoped?
You I tried asking open questions, but she just gave one-word answers. I think having her mother in the room made her hesitant to speak freely. Next time I'll try to find a reason to speak to her alone for a moment.

Updating reflection form...
That's a great insight. I've added that to your reflection.

Which RCGP capability do you feel this best demonstrates? Communication or Maintaining Trust?
Reflection Draft
What happened?
16F requested pill. Mother present. Consult felt strained and closed.
What did you learn?
Open questions are insufficient if the environment isn’t conducive to disclosure. The presence of a parent can inhibit adolescent patients. Next time, I will establish a protocol for speaking to teens alone briefly to build rapport.

PHASE 01

Brief description.

Tell the assistant about the case. It asks for anonymised context: what happened, who was involved, and what the clinical scenario was.

PHASE 02

Deep reflection.

The assistant asks structured questions about evaluation, emotions and values, and your action plan. One question at a time — no form-filling.

PHASE 03

Curriculum linking.

The assistant suggests relevant clinical experience groups and RCGP capabilities, then asks you to justify each link. You decide which apply.

PHASE 04

Quality review.

The assistant evaluates the entry against depth, critical thinking, and evidence of learning. It suggests improvements if needed.

Value Propositions

Why use Portfolio Mode?

Two coaching approaches. A structured four-phase workflow for clinical case reviews, and flexible coaching for non-clinical entries like CPD, LEA, and QI.
Live editor integration. A portfolio entry appears in the workspace as soon as you start. Every turn updates the draft automatically, matching the layout of the entry type.
Anonymity enforcement. If the assistant detects patient or staff identifiers, it pauses and asks you to anonymise. A separate server-side scrubber catches structured slips (NHS numbers, full postcodes, phones, emails, DOBs) before they reach the AI, and your AI Hygiene Score on the profile page tracks how often your prompts are already clean — the privacy guide has the full picture.
Anti-fabrication safeguard. The assistant never invents clinical details, findings, or learning. It polishes your prose, but the facts come from you.
Scope

Best Use Cases

Where it works well Use it

  • Post-consultation reflection

Turn a challenging consultation into structured evidence through a guided conversation.

  • Capability mapping

If you aren't sure how to articulate a link to a capability, the coaching helps you justify it in your own words.

  • Pre-supervision preparation

Draft a structured reflection before your trainer meeting so the conversation starts from a clearer place.

Where judgement still sits with you

  • !
    The reflection must be yours

The assistant shapes, it does not fabricate. Capability justifications need your genuine reasoning.

  • !
    Review before submitting

Ready entries are your responsibility. You must review the final draft.

  • !
    Completion boundary

Ready is not a lock. You can still ask the agent to refine the entry after marking it ready.

Key message

Portfolio Mode is an interactive coaching workflow, not an auto-writer. It does not write reflections for you, bypass genuine learning, or act as an automated assessment tool. Your own voice and thinking are the core of the entry.
